| A
Contemporary Facelift |
A
much needed facelift was required for this small, Minneapolis
bathroom. By removing the dated cabinetry and poorly
working fixtures, we were able to bring a contemporary
touch to the space.
The bathroom features a sleek and simple faucet and
vessel sink that rests on a custom, wall mounted cabinet.
The vanity, which almost appears to float above the
floor, was designed to mount off three angled walls.
The remnant granite countertop extends past a window
with obscured glass and into the shower where it is
used as a shelf for various bathing products.
At the base of the vanity, a "floor mat" of
river rock is inlayed amongst the ceramic tile that
massages the feet of the homeowner as he starts his
day. Staying true to Green principles, we replaced
the stool with a dual-flush toilet that uses half of
the water of today's typical low-consumption
models, incorporated lighting that uses energy conserving
compact fluorescent and halogen bulbs, and installed
a nearly silent and energy efficient exhaust fan.
